TANTV
Does anyone know what is going on with TANTV 1 and TANTV 2. The other day I was watching TANTV 1 and the video just cut out, but I could still here the audio. Starting yesterday, the audio went out as well and now both channels are just black. I hope they are not making them subscription channels! I tried re-scanning the satellite for them, but it seems that the IDs are all the same. Any insight would be appreciated.

Tan TV
Tan TV is scrambling their service. They what you to order a smart card and pay 19.95 for the two existing channels and an extra $8 if you would like SBS.

When you say SBS... do you mean live TV?
I would like to know how I can get any Korean channel whether it's free or pay for the service. I do not see any updates on Korean channel anywhere... Please help!

So are there any FTA Korean stations?
Also, what is the latest status of TAN TV on AMC 4? Can you guys still get TAN1, TAN2, or TAN3 channels on AMC 4?
How about on on Telestar 5?

The three TAN channels are still coming in okay for me. However, they’re running promos showing people how to correctly install TAN marked smart cards into their receivers – a VERY bad omen for those of without smart card equipped receivers, as it looks like scrambling is coming in the near future. But, since the promos are in Korean, I have no idea when this will come about (they English subtitle so many of their shows, so why won’t they English subtitle something that’s so very important to us English-language viewers)?
h2jn, SBS is just the Korean network that’s shown on TAN3, just as MBC shows are shown on TAN2, and KBS and YNN shows are shown on TAN1. SBS appears to have some great K-dramas, but there’s nothing there that’s English subtitled.
I haven’t checked out KISB on T5, so I can’t comment about its status.
Only other source for FTA (at least, for the moment) Korean that I know of is ImaginAsian over on G10R. It’s only maybe 10% Korean, but they’re just wrapping up an English-subtitled presentation of “Female Detective Damo,” which is a very superior K-drama.

Good to know. I was thinking about moving my dish to point to AMC4. But it looks like T5 is a better bet.
h2jn, I know you've installed your dish to point to T5. Can you confirm there any FTA Korean stations? I just don't want to have the hassle of moving the dish unless I know that I will get some stations.

There is actually 6 korean TV stations FTA on T5 (IA5).
But the one I would like to see in North America is Korean Central TV from North Korea...
I think this Pyongyang FTA station is for now only on Thaicom-3 world beam for Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.
