Oh he helped a lot I had to keep chasing down my connectors as he would play with them and scatter them accross the floor.

Probably about a dozen channel on T12. Some of which are color slates. Not a lot really.

Actually the 4DTV is on a second 10' dish all it's own. That way the wife can watch what she wants and I can play with the DVB setup and don't hear the complaining.

I pay my 4DTV subscription annually. Much cheaper that way. But I think you can pay monthly if you chose with most programing providers.
I pay about $500 annually. To get that same programing on DN/DTV would cost well over $1K, and you can't even get some of the channels on little dish. This is the programer I deal with, but there are a few others also. http://www.callnps.com/

The difference? Wow, where to start. Better picture quality, much more channel choices, cheaper programing pricing, more than one programing provider to choose from, non encrypted anolog channels and many wild feeds of sports, news and so forth. Plus I love tinkiering with the big dish stuff.

Mainly the reason for the big dish for DVB. The ability to receive the c-band dvb signals as well as the ku greatly increases the number of channels you can receive.

I now regret selling my Motorola DSR-905 SideCar -- it was great. Now the dang things are hard to get, if not impossible.

Nice pictures. What is the azimuth range East-to-West on your HH mount?

Did you have to cut the tree in front of the dish, or was it cut before??

Thanks. I can see from AMC7 at 137° all the way to Telstar12 at 15°. Translation to my setup is: from 248° to 103° actual look angle.

Well , that tree was older than anyone around here could remember. It had been slowly dieing and falling apart for several years now. Figured it was a good time to go out with the old and in with the new.

I agree. I like my gas fireplace better than my previous firewood fireplace. It is much cleaner and less headaches. I miss the wood smell and crackling noise, but... stocking wood, starting the fire, etc.. etc.. gets old after a while.
