Thanks rainman.for all your support. I’ll try again on Wed and Thur (my days off), I hope to get some pictures by then, I will keep you informed.
Here is another question. My LNBF is a (Digiwave DGL-990D)
Dual DSS linear LNBF L.O Frequency 10750 Ghz (Standard).
Someone suggested to change the LNBF for a L.O. Frequency 11250.
What is your opinion about it?
Thanks

New to FTA
Hi,
Just got my order Saturday and have everything assembled and ready to mount this evening when it gets below 100 degrees. I have had Dishnet and Direct TV for many years but am new to FTA. My only question so far is about polarization. I am in North Carolina so I am supposed to turn the LNB counterclockwise 24.5 degrees. I can see there are 10 tic marks on the LNB, 2 large ones and 8 smaller ones and assume the last mark is 30 degrees. Do I have to be exact? Not sure how I can get 24.5 set correctly.
Thanks.

just get it close to start with then when you get a lock and all the other settings max you can readjust the lnb skew for best quality signal.

leave your Lo set at 10750 if you use 11250 it will throw off your TP freq and will be harder to determine accurate freqences. also may not scan in all the avaiable TP.

Thanks forum
Hi members
"I’ve got it; yes; That’s it." I was able to obtain quality of 74 on G10R my closest satellite. The receiver, a motorized HH90, Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra scanned 34 channels from the satellite. I think I must go to my most Eastern and western satellites, and obtain a quality of 66% or better, before I tight all the nuts up.
It is believed that Archimedes said: "I have got it; . . . " after he discovered a way to determine the purity of gold by applying the principle of specific gravity.
I am please of my success with the help of the forum. I have been trying for over a year. Thanks rainman!!

I don't have my FTA yet, but have been reading here so much, I'm almost expert...
I ordered the motorized system with the Fortec Classic from Sadoun. Unfortunatly due to their move I have to wait for my order a little longer.
Can't wait, in fact, I allready started doing some pre-wiring. I highjacked the existing inside wiring, and used some wide (5-2050mhz) diplexers. Run some cable outside to a grounding block. All I need now is to slap the dish on the roof, and connect it.
Some questions/concerns:
With 2 diplexers @ 3db insertion loss each, do you think I need an inline amplier. (Cable run is maybe 30-50 feet).
And since I live on the 97 longitude (97.7, my Galaxy 25 orientation is 179.7), should I align my dish to G25 at 0 position, or hook up the motor, make it move to 97, and then align. I wonder, would it even move? I love living in the south, everything is between 47-58 elevation.
Thanks,
Mickel

Well to be honest, it not the first dish I have put up.
But never a motorized one. Both all other instances everything seems to easy on paper, but then you spend the entire weekend on it.
But don't worry, if I get stuck i'm sure i'll let you know!

Hi Mickel, welcome to the forum.
I am very new to FTA, but I started with a motorized FTA. I just installed my motorized ( HH90) satellite using. You have to find True South which means 180 degrees magnetic less declination because you are left of the 90 degrees. In you particular case you should point at 180 - 4 = 176 degrees magnetic becoming your 0 position. (Find your declination for you location, I believe it is 4 or 5)
After you have typed the values on your latitude and longitude on the receiver (assuming you are using USALS), find on your receiver G25 and the motor will move to that position. From here, you adjust the dish East & West; Up & Down until you find the green line or the channel.
Good luck

Hello. I'm new to this forum. Currently embarking on upgrading my DTV installation to HD. The DTV installers no-bid the job due to the distances involved and the tall trees that only give peekaboo views of the sky at 30 degrees elevation. I may need a second AU9 to see 110 and 119, but will be happy to start with 99, 101, and 103 for now. Looks like Sadoun has most of the stuff I need, and lots of good advice here.
