I can't really say for sure, but when I bought it, the sales guy insisted that it was the same as a certain Uniden model. Not sure that it was a clone/rebadged Uniden or not though.

Oh,... OK... Uniden. I was thinking it might have been a clone of one of the Drake receivers. I just remember a couple people in an old mailing list I was on having one of those receivers, and they said it was a clone of something, but I couldn't remember of what. I have an old Uniden C-band only receiver, which still works well. It's prior to when they had built in dish movers.

Supporting FTA
As many of you know, FTA channels come and go. Instead of whining about it, I am financially supporting the channels that I and my family watch, mainly PBS Montana and a few others. I do this to ensure their continued broadcast for my benefit as well as for others. I would encourage those who read this to support their favorite channels financially.
Thank you.

I did some more research, just because I could not recall 100% whether the sales person was just telling me the Zenith was "like" the Uniden, or that it was the same device. It appears that the Zenith was indeed manufactured by Drake. I haven't found anything that tells me which exact model of Drake it is, but there are only a couple models that use the same UHF remote (according to a replacment remote control vendor), so it's probably one of them.

Out of curiosity, see what happens if you key in channel 95. My Drake 1824 gives a big screen full of hex numbers, one of which will tell you the frequency you're tuned to (via a chart). There is another channel somewhere in the 90s (maybe 99) that puts the receiver in some kind of demo mode, but I forget what it does in that one.

Welcome deaner. if you are looking for both c and ku band I would recommend a 8.5' dish a v box positioner and a Mercury II receiver along with the bsc-621 lnbf.

Hi:
My name is Ziyou Xiong. I bought a S-4 system last week in order to watch CCTV-4. Let me provide some information about what I have:
1. My Location: Wethersfield, Connnecticut, Zip code 06109
2. Receiver make and model: Fortec Star 5900 (FS5900)
3. Dish Size: 80 cm, i.e., 31''
4. LNBF type: Standard Single KUL1
5. No Motor
6. Question: Why is the signal quality always 0% with signal strength around 80%? Is my dish too small?
I followed the installation instructions to set up the dish to Azimuth = 212 degrees, Elevation = 37.2 degrees, and LNPF skew = 23.5 degrees.
I also used the satellite meter to find a satellite at that location. I heard the loud buzz from the satellite meter.
My goal was to watch CCTV-4 on the KU band of the 95W Galaxy 3C satellite. On the receiver setup screen, I selected the following parameters:
Satellite: 265.0' KU-Galaxy 3C
Transponder: 11780H 20760 3/4
LNB Power: 13/18V
LNB Type: 9750/10600
22KHZ: Auto
Switch Type: None
Option: None
My symptoms are that the signal quality is always 0% with signal strength around 80%, or even 100%, no matter
how I fine-tune the dish. Could anybody help?
I called Satoun.com 1-888-519-9595 number to ask whether it is due to that the dish size is small. I was told by
one person that it is not small. Is it really so?
Thanks in advance.
Ziyou

Also, the loud buzz from the signal meter isn't by itself what you listen for. It will buzz even if not aimed at a sat. Tune the meter half scale, and while moving the dish, listen for the pitch to increase and the meter to go higher when you get near a sat. Once you've peaked it, you still might not be on the right sat, so you have to do a scan to verify what sat you are on.

deaner satnut is right the BSC621-2 that Sadoun sells is a c and ku band lnbf which means it is a feedhorn with the lnb's built in and can be controlled by a fta receiver to get the vertical and horizontal Transponders. also has a built in disqec switch so only 1 cable to run inside.
