This New Forum / site...

Is it just me, .. or this New Forum / Site is somewhat slow to open up / refresh it's pages on occasion?

Now seems to be OK.. but earlier was very slow....

It is a little faster than the olf forum. However, now I have setup more topics per page, etc. That could slow it down a little. I could reduce the number of topics and forums on the view page. That would speed it up a little.

Also, I recomend members use smaler Avatar files and signature graphics. Large files will slow upload as well.

What connection sped do you have at your end?

On a broadband connection, it is very fast to view the forums. :mozilla_laughing:

I am on Dial up..

But that's doesn't matter.. - cuz - when forum is fast.. - it's really nice and fast...
and when it's slow.. it's slow

Old forum - was fast all the time.. most of the time...
Any other regular forums i go to are fast also as usual..

Just this one here.. somehow since the move.. is lagging a lot lately :mozilla_cry:

actually i was in other window.. in other forum...

and by the time i came back here to type and send the "post above" - the forum became fast and normal again..

Go figure #-o
It's not a dial-up anyhow.. something with forum/site or whatever i bet..

just letting know - Forum was down again just before right now... not that long.. (not sure exactly how long.. cuz came not long ago) - but was down...

Again got that screen:

phpBB critical error: Database error (or something like that)

It's not dialup for sure.. cuz actually currently i am browsing with a Cable Internet.. (will be for a month or so)

and i don't think it's Avatars neither...
It s something else..
who knows what though...

Maybe some phpBB bugs...
By the way maybe forum needs s/w upgrade to the newest phpBB s/w...
maybe it's running an older one....

It is running fast here. Sometimes it maybe down for server restart. 1-2 minutes.

Now that the forum is pretty fast.. - how about increasing the amount of posts per thread's page in the forum?

cuz with current 5 posts per page.. - pages just keep on piling
Example would be .. in NF.

Pretty sure that say 10 per page would be OK also.. (considering that some forums have even more per page)

ya.. i noticed now more then 5 per thread.. - forum is still no problem...
so can even go more then now some day if wanted / needed.. - 15, etc..
Don't think it will become much slower...

hmm.. just noticed something..

I went to this section of the forum - Persian TV i think it was .. at: http://sadoun.net/viewforum.php?f=25

And inside there .. there are bunch of those digital magazines or issues (or something like that)..
I think those are in the wrong part of this forum (as i remember them in a different section in the old forum)

Yes you are right. When we moved the forums here, some older messages ended up in a different forum.

If you need to search something specifi in the old messages, try the SEARCH feature. :mozilla_cool:

Can you, if any possible get rid of the grey background in first 16 smilies there ( grey background in those: :mozilla_cool: :mozilla_cry: :mozilla_oops: :mozilla_foot: :mozilla_frown: :mozilla_innocent: :mozilla_kiss: :mozilla_laughing: :mozilla_money: :mozilla_sealed: :mozilla_smile: :mozilla_surprised: :mozilla_tongue: :mozilla_undecided: :mozilla_wink: :mozilla_yell: )

To have them without background as other 4 smilies there .. plus additional ones in "View more Emoticons" (as in those: =D> #-o =P~ :^o [-X [-o< 8-[ [-( :-k ](*,) O :-({|= :-$ :-s \/ :-# .. etc .. in case i missed any

... as the ones without Grey Background - Look better! :mozilla_wink:

Try adjusting the brightness and contrast on your screen. I can hardly notice them on mine.

Once we migrate to the vBullitin, we will have brand new smilies.
