At this time, there is no set date until the market is developed. We will continue to work with the manufacturer to bring these to the USA as soon as possible because we are getting some inquiries.

Would it be possible to buy a 9800 now(I assume they'll work in NA), flash it to the 9800HDD firmware, and add a drive? Hopefully the models that let you add a drive will come out soon, but until then, would this accomplish the same thing as the preconfiguration for an HDD?

If not, I might get a 786NA. I don't really care that much about Common Interface, but the PVR feature(and the ability to change the images :lol: ) would be nice to have. Common Interface wouldn't hurt though, maybe I'd find a use for it in the future.

BTW, Would it be possible to remove the drive from the receiver and convert the streams to mpeg2 video playable on a PC(maybe with the tools for the PCI DVB receivers)?

From the Fortec Star website, it looks like they provide great support. It's reassuring to see a quality site with firmware updates, editing software, etc.

You couldn't because the HD ready version has a bigger power supply to support the HD upgrade.

Yes you can.
