First Channel

Just wondering if anybody can remember the first channel you lock onto when installing your first satellite system. For me it was Telemundo on G4 c band analog back in the early 90's.

For me I guess it would have been DirecTv - back in '97 when DirecTv was still "sort of" legal in Canada. That was my first - took me 4 hours to complete the install... LOL

I can't remember what I first found on MY dish, but a couple weeks before I put mine up, a co-worker installed the same dish I bought, and I'm pretty sure that we found one of the ABC or CBS network feeds on T-301 or T-302. I likely tried to find the same thing when I set mine up a couple weeks later.
I do remember being quite skeptical that we'd find ANYTHING, and was amazed when the channels came in crystal clear.

Mine was originally installed by a dealer. We moved and although it was a short distance and the only adjustments I had to make was rotating whole assembly on the pole,I was relieved when I tuned in Amc when it was on Amc4 analog.Since then,by trial and error I have fine tune every setting, because I added ku.

agreed Jim especially when you realized how far away the target is that you are aiming at that's very satisfying.

Yup ! it was Dr Gene Scott.

the day i got my first c-band setup in the mid 80's

spent most of the a fall afternoon trying to get the system working
but a bad rg-59 cable gave me fits. not until darkness came, did i
figure that out and i was swinging the dish around manually looking
form NASA TV.

no nasa but before i quit trying for the night, i found the doctor.

i was happy to be getting anything!

so that first night of sat tv, i watched dr scott, some shopping channel
and a feed or two

i found nasa the next day

its been a blast ever since !!
