Some companies (non-satellite related) approached us about placing banner ads on this forum. The revenue will go to support the cost and maintenance of this forum. As you know, we have been running this forum for almost 4 years with no ads.

What do you think? Should we start selling ad space here?

seems like everybody else (other boards I visit, not only satellite ones) are doing it.

for me it's somewhat annoying, I dont think I'd buy anything from a flash add.

But this is your board you really dont need our permission but do appreciate the ability to comment about it.

Just dont make them the "slide over and yell at me with my sound system" type ones.

A few ads won't hurt but if we get to many then it will distract from the purpose of this forum.

I personally have never bought anything from one of those types of ads. I would not enter into any agreement based on purchases generated. If they are willing to pay for a per view basis it could be something to your benefit. I would avoid the pop up over what I am reading never go away ads

Ads on the side are fine. The ones I hate are the endless pop-ups the appear everytime you change a page.

Personally, I never look at any of the banners and have never purchased anything based on them. I also have my browser set to reject any unsolicited PopUps (some still get through, but I cancel them immediately) and I keep the sound muted on my computers unless I have a reason to use it.

That said, these ads must have some impact on someone so I would say do it if it benefits your website.

I dont realy look at them any way if it will help you offset the cost of keeping this forum up an running i would go for it, and think alot of people would say same thing, but wouldnt like a pop up that comes at any given time, let them run on top or bottom or side of the screen. just my 2 cents. Captain
