Signal meter VS Dish receiver
A fancy expensive signal meter does not know the difference between 110, 119, 61.5, 81 or 148. You would get "Satellite Found"on all these satellite if you’re pointed to any of them. A basic dishnetwork receiver can tell the difference. It would display “Wrong satellite 119”. How come this technology is not available in those expensive signal meters?

It should identify the satellites fine. Try to update the datafile in your meter regularily.

My Birdog identifies most of the DishNetwork satellites fine. Same for Nimiq 91 and 82. Try a new config file.

I have a Sathawk3000 with the latest file A3.8.
If I point to any circular satellite, all circular satellites in the menu would display sat found. What's funny is 61.5 does not display sat found if I'm pointed to 61.5 but it would on any other satellite. Is this a firmware issue? Where do I go from there?

Hi Pictureone
What type of LNBF are you using?

Thank you admin.
I'm using mostly Dishnetwork legacy lnb's and dp twin lnb's. On the legacy ones I get reading on all satellite. On dp twin I get both 110 and 119 going from 0 to 98 quality without stopping. I'll try the test and post results. Thank you

Users... This is a result of a unique file test. This is not a meter or software review
OK. I downloaded the file Admin sent me and tested it on legacy lnb first. Went to 110, 119. 61.5 nd 148. The meter did not find any satellite.
Same results on DP lnb's
Tested on DP twin lnb, searching.... Nothing
Tested on ku standard lnb and Universal lnb... works fine.
I used dishnetwork 311 receiver to make sure I have signal.
Now I moved back to 3.8 and back to same problem. Sat found on all circular satellites no mater which one I point to.

Ok, I thought that would happen with the test file. It had some alternate data and if the meter said FOUND, then I would have suspected there is a problem with the meter. But since the meter did not react the same way as before, then I know the meter is fine.
With 3.8 it says found (it is suppose to do that). Most of the DSS satellites have the same SR (20,000). The only difference is the TP frequency, which in some cases is very close to each other. That is why they keep the satellites around 9 degrees apart on the clarke belt.
We will do another test file for you and see how it goes.
