Birdog Satellite finder

Does anybody have any experience using the "BirDog" satellite finder?

I have a starband system that I occasional need to relocate and wanted to find a good meter to speed up the process.

Any help - advice would be appreciated.

Bob

I bought a Birdog from Sadoun last year . The Birdog has to be the Best metter iv have ever used in my life . Iv been able to use it on DTV 119 101 Dish 110,119,148 as well as Telstar 5 I could find any of these birds in under 3 mins tops . Its kinda hard to belive but there cant be a better metter . You can load up to 30 satllites in the metter at once and find all that you would ever need. Comes with a car charger as well as a 110v house changer. Very easy to use !

Yes, I agree. :mozilla_wink:

I have two birdogs and they are the greatest installation tool I have ever used. Highly recommended.

Bird Dog Meter

Thanks for the replies,

I finally bought the Birddog but am still having a problem locating 129. The best signal I get is 76 and it will not say "Found" Any suggestions would be great as I have spent over 4 hour trying to aim the dish.

Thanks,

Fatboy

Have you tried switching polarities? Some satellites use HOR and others use VER for the beacon. Plus they switch them around from time to time, such as with AMC4; my Birdog will say "found" only on the HOR setting.

If you still can't find it try downloading a new satellite list from www.birdog.tv

I have downloaded both KV and KU 129 and the AM4 on Wednesday. I 've got the starband dish with the Dishnetwork LMB adapter on the side. I have even tried to located the 110 & 119 birds and I have the same problem. The highest signal is around 72

My settings are 24.2 238.2 and a skew of 40.6.

The Starband LMB receiver has numbers like a setting that you turn from +40 degrees to -40 degrees. Any idea what they are for? I set my skew based on the mast settings and that the LMB at 0 degrees. I have even tried to twist the LMB to see if that made a difference and no change.

Thanks for your qick response

I have never seen a Starband system so I really cannot help you much. The +40/-40 numbers in the receiver are likely for manual skew adjustment using a polarity motor (like on C-band dishes). I would set the receiver to zero and adjust skew on the LNB itself. Is the Starband LNB universal? If so the Birdog won't find 129 unless you download the universal files; they start with a "U". Perhaps some other members will read this thread and offer some advice.

Thanks,

I'll go look for some "U" files to download.
