Birdog issues...
I own a Birdog for almost two years now, and in general it does satisfy my needs for satellite installations.
However, there are a few things that i would like explained
1 Universal LNB's
How to get the Birdog working with the universal LNB. I read about the 22 KHz generator, where can I get it. Looks like everybody is running out of standard LNB's
2 Starchoice
According to perfect-10 Starchoice is using encryption method that is not compatible with Birdog. However, in this forum there is a post that someone got it to work with SC
3 Sometimes I have to hold the "ON" button for almost a minute before Birdog powers up. Is it a hardware problem or is it something that can be reset, or upgraded by serial cable (software version is 2.50, and batteries are ok)
Thanks

Make sure you are using the UNIVERSAL setting if your Invacom is a single output. If it is the new quad output LNBF, then use the standard settings on your BIRDOG.

If you log onto www.birdog.tv and go to the "Configure" list you can custom select the satellites to download into your Birdog. Anik F2 is supported on the KU band (for StarChoice) in both standard and universal LNB formats. I notice that Anik F1 (other StarChoice bird) is supported only for C-band; this would suck heavily if I was a StarChoice installer... lucky for me I'm not; if I had a nickel for every StarChoice dish I installed I'd have 15 cents.... :mozilla_cool: :mozilla_cool: ExpressVu RULES...
As for everybody running out of standard LNBs; how many do you need? I've got 100's of 'em.
The Birdog does support universal LNBs but you need to download the UNIVERSAL satellites into your meter; check out www.birdog.tv

BTW: I own 2 Birdogs and I wouldn't part with them for anything.

You mean signal "quality" of 34? That's not bad. Interesting how you found the DiSEqC settings in the Birdog; I had no idea the meter would even control DiSEqC switches; most groovy!!!

You don't. You need to download the UNIVERSAL files from www.birdog.tv for the satellites you want to find. The UNIVERSAL files start with U-

Ode to a Birdog...
...a one and a two...
BIRD DOG
(Boudleaux Bryant)
The Everly Brothers - 1958
Johnny is a joker [he’s a bird)]
A very funny joker [he’s a bird]
But when he jokes my honey [he’s a dog]
His jokin’ ain’t so funny [what a dog]
Johnny is a joker that’s a’tryin’ to steal my honey [he’s a bird dog]
Johnny sings a love song [like a bird]
He sings the sweetest love song [ya ever heard]
But when he sings to my gal [what a howl]
To me he’s just a wolf dog [on the prowl]
Johnny wants to fly away and puppy-love my baby [he’s a bird dog]
Hey, bird dog get away from my quail
Hey, bird dog you’re on the wrong trail
Bird dog you better leave my lovey-dove alone
Hey, bird dog get away from my chick
Hey, bird dog you better get away quick
Bird dog you better find a chicken little of your own
Johnny kissed the teacher [he’s a bird]
He tiptoed up to reach her [he’s a bird]
Well he’s the teacher’s pet now [he’s a dog]
What he wants he’s been gettin’ now [what a dog]
He even made the teacher let him sit next to my baby [he’s a bird dog]
Hey, bird dog get away from my quail
Hey, bird dog you’re on the wrong trail
Bird dog you better leave my lovey-dove alone
Hey, bird dog get away from my chick
Hey, bird dog you better get away quick
Bird dog you better find a chicken little of your own
FADE He’s a bird

The DiSE examples work on my BirDog. My meter has firmware version 2.5.
With the meter ON and no satellite found press and hold the ON key and then press and hold the right arrow key while still holding the ON key. After a few seconds the DiSE menu pops up. Same thing but the OFF key instead of the right arrow key for the LNB menu.

from what i understand
for the star choice that does work with the birdog is just the lnb that has to be changed is that right after you changed the lnb do you keep it on and does it work with star choice without any problems
thanks dan

The availability of these options depend on what version you have.
Version 3.0 has them all....
