directv & international --> one receiver

ok this one is kinda weird so let me try to explain

i have 2 dishes right now one is drectv and the other is an international dish pointing at another bird. this international dish does not use cards for prgramming it uses some kind of number and frequency thing, where once you have the dish pointed correctly, you then go into setup in the receiver's menu and enter certain frequencies to get certain channels. the receiver is a samsung, i dont have the model # of the top of my head, and it has 2 card slots that look like they can fit a typical p3 card BUT they are empty and hollow ie if i stuck a card into it, it would just fall in then id have to open the receiver to get it out

so my ultimate question is, if anyone knows what the hell im talking about, does a receiver exist that can take in the two satellite signals that i am receiving? maybe a better version of the samsung receiver, thats not hollow exists? so i dont have to have 2 receivers

let me know what you think or need more 411---thanks

Hi,

It will not. Read the following: Because DTV went on the air before the MPEG-2/DVB standard was ratified, they don't use standard MPEG-2. Much like GI, they use MPEG-2 video encoding, but use strange audio encoding and system information packets. Additionally, the DSS service uses variable FEC values depending on how they have the the transponders on the satellite configured. The DSS data stream is transmitted the same way as all other MPEG-2 satellite services, however, due to its differences, is incompatible with MPEG-2/DVB receivers.

got it from this page http://www.coolstf.com/mpeg

is got some cool info, check it out and enjoy

Nuff said.
