DirecTV sats: 101 v. 119

Is there any advantage of the 119W satellite over the 101W satellite? I just wonder since I am at 119 Longitude. Thanks.

Re: DirecTV sats: 101 v. 119

For DTV, main programs are on 101. The 119 is for local channel. Your question is not quite clear. Are you asking if you can get better signal for 119 than 101 in your location?
DTV bird covers all region in the US. You should not have any problem getting DTV signal. The longtitude has nothing to do with the bird orbital.

dtsexpert,
I was thinking that since the 119 sat is my 'true south' satellite it might be a little closer and thus it would be easy to tune and have a stronger signal.... It sounds like this is not the case.
BTW, why won't they allow you to pick ANY US city for local channels? I wish I could get local news for San Diego. That would be grand.

Advertising plays big roles here. They pay big $ and target local folks, so it 's just not fair if one can view local channels of other region....:-)

HD, some extras, and some locals currently come out of the 119 satellites currently. Main programming and some locals come out of the 101 satellites currently.
