I repair Birdog meters for all versions

Hello, I am a Birdog repairman and have been repairing them for quite some time now. I also sell new battery packs on them.

I noticed alot of you have been having issues as I had before I started working on them.


a few years ago I was an installer with Dish and my meter kept acting up, I called one of the factories that repair them and they told me it would be $150-$200 and take up to 3 weeks to get it back! I couldnt go three weeks or afford $200 so I started working on mine and then realized it was something I loved to do!


I have become a good alternate to having to send your meter to the factory and wait and pay huge prices. I am based out of Houston,Texas and I take paypal so I can show my customers I am legit and do it the right way.


I offr a full 1 year guarantee on all my work, and I check for all possible problems. I try to find anything that could be going out before it goes out on you.


My price range is from $60-$120 but the $120 is if I had to rebuild most of the meter and add a new battery pack, out of 500 plus meters only once have I had to do that. The avg cost is around $75 and the avg time once you send it out is 7 days as I only keep it 2-3 days then send it back to you, I know how important these meters are and know my customers need them back ASAP!



I do Birdog tuneups for only $75. A tuneup is a new battery pack installed,new wiring,a complete checkup of the entire meter,reprogramming your sats into the meter for possible tp updates, and also cleaning out of the meter!

I also pay commisions to people who get me meters to repair, I will pay 10 pct on all commisions, If you work for a big company you can make some money every week, I can either paypal it to you or send you a check/money order for your services.

I have an older model Bird dog that has been o.k. up to today. I was trying to program it and could not get it to go into program mode. I tried 5 different computers and three different OS's. I tried to use a USB to rs-232 converter and went striat from the rs-232 com port as well. I talked with a gentleman at PV and he thought it was the cable, so I re-terminated the RJ-45 end but still it won't go into program mode. I even ohm'd the cable through to the board connector and I have continuity. Is there a chance that the downloads are causing some compatibility issues. My birdog is V2.01? I have ordered a newer version but it won't be here until next week, I would still like to have this one as a back up. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am not trying to spam satluv. I am just offering a service that can help people out and also make me a few extra bucks while doing so. I treat people fair and dont make people wait around for weeks and weeks like some of the repair centers do. I heard from a guy the other day that sent his meter in and it took 4 weeks to get it back and cost him $125 for something I would have charged $70 for and had it back to him in 3-5 days!

I too am an installer, and If more people learned how to do services like this it would be better for everybody! I do it as quickly as possible because I know what it is like to be without a meter for 3-4 weeks, could end up costing your job! alot of installers go broke waiting 3 weeks sometimes to get paid and cant afford to go buy another $300-$400 meter when theirs go down! Nor can they afford the 3-4 weeks some factories make them wait! That is why I do this! It is a legitimite service, not spam, as i have had hundreds of customers to date.

I talk over phone and still a few question. Please tell me:

1. Can you replace keypads for ver. 2.5 and ver 3 (Birdog)
2. Can you replace tuner for ver 2.5.
3. Can you upgrade tuner ver 3, by installing some surface mount part,
for preventing loose signal for some or mostly satellites?
4. Can you repair main board for problem like: no charge battery, high
current in Off position, I2C errors
5. Can you update main board ver 3.4 for preventing "sleep problem"
6. Can you replace AC power.
7. Can you replace LCD for ver 2.5 and ver 3
8. Can you repair "Ultra"
9. Do you install new parts or used.
10. Do you have contact with "Horizon" for obtaining latest iinfo

The reason I ask detail make certainty that repair is right and meters
updated. Even you ask much less, $70-$120 still money.
