AMC 5 USU channels

Has anyone ever looked at AMC 5 Program 110, 12-16 channels and found the "interactive" teaching there?

When there is not a class, there is a notice that tells you to go to this website to get a schedule. There is a schedule there, but, it does not tell which feed will be active for each of the classes on the schedule.

I am interested in this information, but, I hesitate to contact Utah U because these channels may not actually be intended for audiences outside of USU classes.

Thanks for any information anyone can provide regarding these channels.

Probably not. First of all, you need to be a tuition paying student at USU to gain benefits of the program. Second, the satellite system uses a telephone line to "audio back" to the instructor. This equipment is propietary to USU and I don't think they would like it if a person was using their own equipment to receive the broadcast. Because Utah is such a big state, the satellite program was instituted to reach students in remote parts of the state that could not get to a physical location to take their classroom instruction. I really don't think that they care if you view the program but getting college credit for taking the class remotely is not possible unless you live in Utah and are actively enrolled to take that class and have their equipment.

Another good channel is UWTV on G10R. Caught a C Programming class the other night. Problem there is I have no idea what and when they are broadcasting anything I would have interest in. I would not contact Utah about it. I would simply sift through the channels when the broadcast you desired was set to be on air.

Speaking of the UTAH MUX, does anyone else have problems with just one of the channels in that MUX??? I forget which channel, I think it's the first one that shows on TSREADER, ie the one with the lowest program number I think. I get a good signal on the MUX, and all the other channels on the MUX play fine, but that one channel seems to break up when playing on my Twinhan, even though I think it did play OK on my Fortec, but I might be remembering that wrong. Anyway, just curious if anyone noticed anything strange.
Also, despite getting error free reception on the PBS channel in that MUX, it is one of the worst video quality channels I've run across, perhaps only better than the White Springs thing, and that's probably mainly because of the quality of the old movies they are uplinking. The Utah PBS thing is crystal clear, but whenever there is motion, it looks like they are using a huge amount of compression or something, because there are all sorts of blurring artifacts associated with moving objects. Same kind of thing that you get when you set a TIVO to the worst quality setting. I can't beleive that they are using that signal to feed any transmitters in Utah.

I am not trying to obtain college credit or any audio back channel to ask questions. These classes could be of some benefit because they do work math problems in the math classes and I have seen some other subjects as well. My son would be the one to benefit from watching because he could learn something toward his GED.

All I am looking for is a schedule that would tell what was going to be on each channel at a given time. They do have a class schedule that tells what class is going on at what time, but, it does not tell which channel of the MUX that it is on.

Thanks.
