Euronews no longer FTA on Telstar5?

Euronews is being moved from the 11929MHz Tp to 12053MHz Tp on July 28, 2003, where it seems no longer to be FTA. lyngsat.com lists it Irdeto/Nagra encrypted at the new frequency. If this is true I may as well throw away the whole system. It is the only FTA channel I watch. Does anybody have a more favorable answer?

I am as much concerned as you! It's the only channel I watch. I may as well throw mine too.
I was thinking that it will stay on telstar5 and we only have to tune it. Now this news is putting me into restless state. Let’s wait and see on the 28th, hopefully we will still be able to get a hold of it.

It is strange that EURONEWS, a publicly (by Europeans) funded channel, would go scrambled. They must have gone MAD. I hope it won't happen. It is one nice channel to watch.

Well, it's official! I just got the message below from Euronews and it asked
me to subscribe with Globecast for $9.99/month. Check out the link. Is
Globecast the middle man that is making money on TV that is free? They
are even advertising a $200 decoder and you would probably need it
since your present FTA decoder wouldn't do it. I guess the $300 FTA
system I bought a few weeks ago is useless.

That was definitely the only channel I watched daily...every freggin' day.

As I'm sure you're all aware, EuroNews is now scambled, the message onscreen says it is $4/month now. Don't they get it? Even $4 is more than the $0 I planned on!

I know in the world of FTA nothing is guaranteed, but I did truly believe EuroNews was going to be around much longer than the few months since I got my FTA system.

My suggestion: contact EuroNews and demand that it go FTA again - if not 24 hours a day, at least for a 8 hours or so!

Shortly before they went scrambled, I noticed they had more and more commercials, too!

Do you know which Albanian channels are coming and where?

First I agre with your quote about Euronews and the wishing price for the rest of channels

So far we have only one channel in USA (RT21 at Globecast - Telstar5) In the same time in Europ Albanians thay have bouquet withe a name Albaniaca Sat.
