Montana PBS Changing Transponder
Luckily, this is just a frequency change. All other parameters are supposed to stay the same. The change is scheduled to happen Monday, 8/14/06 at 10 a.m. MDT
New freq.: 12145 MHz Horizontal (AMC3 / 87W)
Check out the full press release at http://www.montanapbs.org/AboutUs/Ne...?ARTICLE_ID=38
Note that while the article says the frequency change takes place 8/14, it later says "10/14/06" (probably a typo).
Pass it on!
Bob

Not receiving Montana PBS
I did a manuel scan on the new frequency, but nothing comes up. Anybody out there receiving Montana PBS? If so, are there any deviations from the posted frequency, polarity, SR, PID settings?

It's the same polarity and S Rate that old one was:
12155 H 4340 (add 0 at beginning to make a 5 digit number: 04340)

[EDIT] Typo here: it's 12145

I had a similar result. Reset your Video PID to 33, Audio to 38 and PCR 33.
It confounded the heck out of me 'cuz I could read a great signal and quality level, but got nada until I switched PIDs.
Good luck,
Bob

I think you have a typo there, it's 12145 not 12155 .
the PIDs are the same as it was before. Not sure why it wouldn't scan for people, it scanned in fine for me.
I was watching the old 12164 channel much of the day yesterday, and early today, and it was interesting that the signal seemed to be changing. At one point it was quite weak, and I could hardly lock it, while a couple hours later, with me making no changes at all, it was almost as strong as the new transponder, which is a strong signal for me.
Right now, it looks like they have turned the old 12164 off completely.

I was watching the old transponder with its text message saying, in essence, "if you're watching this, call the knuckleheads at your cable company and tell them to get on the stick!" and I found it quite amusing for some reason.

Low quality signal on PBS Montana
I changed the settings to the values indicated, but I am getting only 20-26% on the quality bar. For a split second, I did see a still video image of something with the montana PBS logo on the bottom. Is anybody noticing a lower signal strength at this new frequency?
I receiving the other stuff on this satellite fine; Patient channel, Islamic stuff, etc.

Actually, the Montanna signal is stronger than the Patient channel, although it does have another signal nearby at about 12150 that could be causing problems for you. I know the freq is 12145, but you might try 12144 or 12143, in case your LNB is off freq a bit, because your receiver might be trying to lock in on the nearby signal at higher freq, and telling it to tune a lower freq might force it to lock on the right signal. Probably won't work, but it's worth a try.
Only other thing I can think of if you can get Patient, but not Montanna, is a problem with your coax. Ie the Montanna is coming in at a higher frequency than the Patient channel, and if your coax is bad, like if water got into it or something, sometimes you lose the high frequency signals first.

I don't understand why people are having issues with it. I locked on it the day the TP changed with a blind scan
