PBS Stations on AMC3 - No Signal
Hi,
I noticed that on my Fortec Lifetime receiver, the signal strength of all the PBS stations (Montana PBS, PBS Kids, PBS East, etc.) on AMC3 is zero. All other stations (e.g., Bloomburg, etc.) are OK.
Is it the satelllite or the trees in the southern sky? If it is the trees, why are all the other stations OK?
Thanks!

Make sure you are using transponder 12110, horizontal, 14025 symbol rate..
If you still are getting nothing than i guess you need to adjust your dish a little more for stronger signal.. Not all transponders have the same strength.

Anyone has any info on this?

It seems that I'm not the only one. I was thinking about raising my dish/motor assembly on the pole because I thought the trees in the south was blocking the signal.
I remember I had the same problem last fall. At that time I raised the dish/motor assembly and the problem went away.

PBS channels
Another scan today turned up all the channels except PBS, and all were strong and clear. A TP scan of 12110 at 14025 showed no quality at all. Anyone out there getting them, maybe they have changed the beam, up here in Northern Ontario I am getting nothing.

I haven't checked since Monday, but they were coming in just fine on Monday.

Dish size
I have never been able to pick up Montana PBS with my 80cm dish. I think it is just a weak signal.... The other poster with a 1.2 m dish never seems to have a problem..

This is odd.
I have a 76cm dish (in Iowa) with an Pansat 2500, and am getting them fine. The signal quality on the Montana PBS is a little weak, hovering around 30% but is watchable. The other PBS channels (the ones with AC3 audio which I can't decode) are stronger, about 45%.
Other signals on AMC3 are stronger, MTA with about 75, The Patient Channel, 60.

PBS on AMC3
Must have narrowed the beam a bit then on the PBS channels, only answer I can think of.

As you may already know, the PBS Kids Channel is no longer on AMC 3. It was turned off on Oct. 1. (It became PBS Kids Sprout on DirecTV on September 26 at 5:00 am CST.) That may explain why many Ku-band users have had trouble with the PBS Channels on AMC 3, because PBS was discontinuing the PBS Kids Channel. PBS Kids Sprout--it's preschool programming 24 hours a day, with commercials. Is Sprout on Ku-band?

Other PBS channels (East, West, You, & HD) still come in fine (for SF bay area). One thing that really got me scratching my head is that the local PBS TV station (KQED) continues to carray PBS-Kids. In additional, the cable company (Comcast) also has Kidsprout. Supposedly, Kidsprout is widely available through cables, directv & dishnetwork. Where is the satellite backhaul channel(s) that makes it all happen ? #-o The digicipher channels ?
