Pittsburg Steelers

I was wandering if I can pick up the Pittsburg Steelers with a FTA

receiver? I know they play on CBS a lot. They are on my local

CBS affiliate here, but I can’t receive them because I am sorta

out in no mans land. Tried to pick them up with an outdoor

antenna with no luck at all. I live in West Virginia.

If anyone could give me some help thanks. :mozilla_oops:

It's hard to say if you could get them regularly. your best bet is an FTA system for IA6 or AMC5 as those have the most frequent CBS feeds. There is a chance they may be in 4:2:2 format, i think some PC cards can do that, but i dont know of a set top that does.

Check out the 'backhaul' group on Yahoo. If a game is in the clear, it will be posted there along with the format and frequency. a search of the archives might give you a sense of what was available last season.

Thanks kevision. I think I am going to pick up a Pansat 2500a receiver.
Will it pick up the IA6 and AMC5? Thanks for your help.

If the signals are 4:2:2 then no the Pansat receiver will not get those. I don't think that the "feeds" are available FTA; never tried though.

yeah the Pansat will get the Ku feeds you want from IA6 and AMC5. As mentioned, the pansat won't do 4:2:2

Incidentialy, I looked at the backhaul group and there was a pre-season steelers game last week on IA6, 'regular' format, in the clear, etc. So that's a good sign. No garuntee they will all be like that, though.

I dont have much experience with sports feeds but when i find them (i have a 2500 too), they are at relatively low power (maybe spot beamed for specific markets?), so get the biggest Ku dish you can.
