American TV Here you could discuss what is available as FTA American channels on satellite. No discussion of hacking encrypted channels or know how related to that matter is allowed. Discuss only channels that have been listed publicly on lyngsat. Non-public FTA channels should be discussed in the New Finds forum only.

Dish Net or Direct TV Receivers
I was just wondering if we can use dish network or direct tv receivers (PVR) for fta... thanks.

No. Directv is not using DVB standard (it uses it's own propriaery variation of mpeg2).

Dish network is using DVB standard, but its receivers are preset to only use paramaters specific to Dish networ which makes it useles for FTA.
