We also watch Press TV
My wife and I have been watching Press TV.
It's quite informative; some of the commentators appear to have British or perhaps Irish accents; the footage and interviews consist of well-rounded coverage.
The emphasis, of course, is on matters of the region, naturally, ... but they do touch on all affairs global ... and best of all, they don't waste any time (like the big networks here in the U.S. do) on tabloid bologna like hollywood goof-ups ... and all that nonsense.

I watched Press TV once for an hour or so, when I noticed that they were discussing a topic that I know something about, and during this hour they were interviewing some British woman, who was claiming to be an expert, but was a complete idiot. It was full of blatant lies. I've been listening to SW propaganda since back in the early 50s, and I enjoy listening to propaganda. This wasn't propaganda, it was direct lies.
In my opinion, if that 1 hour is any example, the channel is worthless, other than to see a disregard for the truth. It's too bad, because it's nice to see other views of current events, even if slanted, and in this particular case, there were definately ways they could have used slanted truth instead of lies, but they didn't.

Don't forget that there is also Al Jazeera English news channel...
and a French one is shown occasionally on Mhz tv...
(maybe in future sometimes will have it's own channel - but seing is believing)
and don't forget Saudi TV2 - is also kinda mostly News channel.. and broadcasts in English...
so there is DEFINATLY some variety when it comes to these sort of channels
Which in itself is good...

Press TV has been FTA for a while now. You should consider it propaganda since it's state-sponsored. On the other hand, Al Jazeera is a much better animal even if you don't agree with them. Saudi TV is a good one, but also state-sponsored. Polished propaganda is still propaganda. Fox, on the other hand, is rough propaganda!

I don't know maybe they are better looking now, but when I watched them just for 15 minutes when they just came on the air a while ago, I got an impression, they look professionally poor: the anchor had to cut the news right in the middle of the sentence, apologizing, there there was no time left, and the "documentary" (it was about Russia that time) had only narrator's voices: they were showing people talking in Russian, but did not bother to translate a word to English, maybe because of censorship?
If they want to make good propaganda, they need to learn from American selling shows, so called infomercials: that guy with long kitchen knife, cutting tin cans, that's a sort of propaganda, leaving Mao and KGB far behind
