Received the new motor on Thursday.
Yesterday after reading about some of the trouble others were having, I thought I'd "bench test" the unit before I unbolted the dish.
I put the motor in line between receiver and my
Diseqc switch on the floor in the room next to the receiver. It worked just fine, moving between the 2 sats I had programmed in to test with.
This morning, I installed and lined it up with AMC5 (my southern most sat) using a small TV on the roof. Since I had the dish already fixed on AMC5, it took about 2 minutes to find it once I had the motor in place.
I tweaked the dish elevation and the motor's mount till I got about 75 percent quality (best I could get).
Using USALS, I selected and had the motor move to
Telstar 5. No problem, there's the quality bar.... Quick scan on the roof, and there's all the international channels!
So I disconnected the box and tv from the roof and put the receiver back in the house. Works great so far. Although I can't get Galaxy 10R due to trees in the way, I have about 7 or 8 sats scanned and working. My furthest satellite west is around 119-121 degrees, don't remember which one, but it only has 1 FTA channel thanking me for getting a "Superdish".
The last page or 2 of the manual has some detailed explanation on what to do if the east and/or west most satellites are out of alighnment a bit, by moving the pole or the dish mount on the motor. I'm getting better signals to the left of AMC5, so I might be a little off and will adjust & tweak when I have some more time.
So far, in my install the
SM3D12 rotor works great with USALS on my Fortec Ultra. I'm on the 0506 firmware release.
