Sorry, I have been beating this thing for a month now. I even had an installer promise he would come tomorrow, that was two weeks ago and not even a call. If I wasnt in a one pig town I would call another company. If I had the money I would subscribe to pay sattelite, it is far easier and I have done it before.

I will try to alleviate my frustration with a little humor so perhaps the read may be at least a little entertaining.

The meter on the receiver never exceeds 70 signal and 0 quality. I can point the dish at the ground or stand in front of it, the signal doesnt fall below 60, even with my fat carcus standing in the front of the thing.

Minor movements of the dish result in little to no change in (receiver) meter readings. Even pointing the dish north results in little change. This is why I bought the meter.

At least it (the external meter) seems to be responding. I am sure the whole thing could be me seriously screwing up. I was an auto mechanic, a computer technician and I still am an aircraft mechanic. I was in the Air Force and the Army, I know what azimuth is, I even remember some about land navigation. I beleive that I have read the directions correctly (although, like I said it may very well be me) and followed them.

Using the meter at its highest sensativity and making minor adjustments to the dish I quickly gain signal, further decreasing the sensativity on the meter and adjusting the dish brings even more signal until I finally got a pegged signal with the sensativity at the lowest setting. This tells me:

1. I am hitting the sattelite and there is a problem with the receiver and/or LNB(because I have tried this without the rotor in the loop).

2. I am hitting the wrong sattelite (no way for me to know that) although only very minor changes to my original positioning of the dish got the (external) meter moving.

3. I am a complete fruit loop (absolutley possible)

Tonight, the neighbors are sure I am crazy because as the t-storm ended I was climbing to the roof at 2130 to try to adjust the thing again. My wife grew up overseas and I got this thing for her to watch some TV. My frustration is compounded by the unhappy spouse.

What I have tried:

Reset the receiver .. again-Fortek 786v3

beat head against wall

take rotor out of loop

beat wall with tools

relocate dish from ground position to a level moveable platform just to experiment

throw tools :?

buy a peak mount tripod and take the whole thing to the roof for a better view

write things on a bulletin board

beg an installer for help (I cant give money away)

call sadoun support three times

take an uneducated stab that I have a malfunction in the hardware or the installer (ME)

If I had a second receiver or LNB I would continue my troubleshooting as I have been trained to do in similar situations, I have no access to test equipment and no known good parts to try so I am at 0 progress save a headace and an unhappy wife.

Is anyone in WV that could help a poor lost lamb?? :?:
