There are alternatives to "ribbon cable". The ribbon cable is just 2 runs of RG-6 cable, and has with it motor & signal wires.
You can duplicate this with some 4 conductor wire (2 heavy gauge, 2 light gauge) and some good RG-6 coax.

I only say this because sometimes finding ribbon cable can be difficult.
Yes I think you are right. I trie to find Ribbon Cable today and can't find it yet. May have to do as what you wrote.

I don't like running TV wire in conduit anymore. Everytime I've done so, something cracks it and it fills up with water. Unless you put it below the frost line (and here it's like 3 feet down) it will crack up anyway from the ice expanding if it does get water in it.
I'm not so sure I will have a problem with frost here in Florida.

So, I just slit the lawn with a square blade shovel and bury the cables a few inches down. Walk over it and it'll reseal itself and be just fine.
I may have to slit the lawn but go deeper to get under the sprinkler system incase they ever work on it.

It might help to explain what your goals are for the dish (what you want to watch, do you want any "pay for" TV like HBO etc), and we can help comment on what type of receiver, LNBF's and other things you might need to consider.
Watch TV, All progams movies too and get and pay for the movie channels like HBO, Showtime etc and I plan on getting Digital equipment to watch it on my HD TV Home theater.
