Totally lame product documentation

Why is it that the documentation that I see for FTA receivers is the worst that I have ever run into? Many features not documented, dead end screens, etc. I'll tolerate poor English a bit given the source of this stuff, but it seems lazy and insulting that features and functions are minimally described in buttonology without and insight. I know how to push buttons, but why do I want to push the button?

I was looking at a Neosat receiver with an ethernet port since I have a very nice home network. There is absolutely no mention of the port or its function in any of the documentation at the corporate website. Not even a default IP address or the like. That is one marketing manager that should be asking if you want fries with your order.

I vote with my wallet, but too many products (like too many candidates) don't meet my minimum expectations.

How can we, as money-spending consumers, get the message to manufacturers and vendors that what they are delivering is not good enough? If they won't lift a finger, are we willing to share documentation supplements on this forum?
