from what i understand

for the star choice that does work with the birdog is just the lnb that has to be changed is that right after you changed the lnb do you keep it on and does it work with star choice without any problems

As for everybody running out of standard LNBs; how many do you need? I've got 100's of 'em.

The Birdog does support universal LNBs but you need to download the UNIVERSAL satellites into your meter; check out Horizon Satellite Meters

BTW: I own 2 Birdogs and I wouldn't part with them for anything.
