C Band On The Way!!!!!!!!!

Well, it's coming!!! Should be here by the end of week and I can see about getting it going this weekend... Here's what I ordered..

FS6D 180cm Fortec Dish

VBoxII

H180 Moteck Motor

BSC621 CKU LNBF

Collar II for C-Band dish

What I am going to try to do is set it up with C/Ku on the one dish (and lay the 31" on the side for now, find another project for it later).... I'm sure I will be cussing alot this weekend but looking forward to playing the the new dish!!!!

Need to get out there and get a pole set now!

The fun is just beginning Seriously though I think you will find it a great choice. Hopefully a 1.8 is enough where you are. I was on the way to Wally World last Sunday for the weekly grocery shopping and noticed a neighbor out that had (I said had) a dead drooping Unimesh 8.5' dish so I stopped and asked him about it. He said I could have it for free so in the truck it went and now hopefully this weekend I am back to uproot the pole. Was going to cut it off but it is filled with concrete so I get to dig it up.

Now if I can just find that dead actuator I had laying around. Need it just to hold it in place. Going to line this one up for 45. That should get her another 22 or so channels. Next project is make both the stationary big dishes move.

I am looking forward to hearing how it all goes. My how we have jumped in with both feet Seems like just yesterday you were a "I can not find signal" poster and now graduating into the C Band arena Congrats!

Just curious Bibbler, how will you attach the dish to the hh180? I know that Sadoun said that the dish is for a fixed ground mount only but with a "mod" it can be adapted to the motor. I have been thinking about a setup like this myself but I want to find an "unused" 4DTV dish that I can scarf (6-8ft). I think that Sadoun said that 2 pieces for rebar had to be welded on to the ring on the back of the dish so that the HH180 would have some place to connect. Let us know. Also, I want to keep the c and Ku seperate because I need the whole arc on KU and only desire a part of the arc on C band as most good channels are on DVB format and do not require 4DTV. By the way, I know that the picture on DCII is superior to anything else but ther are only 60,000 or so subs left that still get their programming from NPS. Let us know how you make out.

Your sub info is incorrect. It is analog sub numbers. To my knowledge 4DTV subs are not tracked or at least are not reflected in the number you posted.

Analog subs are shrinking. Analog channels are converting to digital. Only makes sense. The "C-Band is dying" group pushes such nonsense. C-Band has been dying since it started. There was always something that was going to do it in and yet it still survives.

Rainman

I never got around to do it. All days have been busy and winter is not a fun time to be standing outside tweaking a mod for a dish. Hopefully with the upcoming nice weather, we will have a lot of nice outdoor projects going on. I will have my camera ready and will share the results.

Bibbler, congrats on your new purchase. It is shipping out today in multiple packages and you should be receiving it soon.

Once you get it setup, take lots of pictures and share them with us....

Yeah, I tend to go fanatical once I start on something

FTA is a "back to the future" project for me. I had a 12' C band dish back in the early 80's as did my best friend (We tend to share the same hobbies and have for the past 50 years), ie. cars, Sat. dishes, Ham Radio, RC Planes, Computers, etc (and both have wives who put up with our "hobbies").......

After I got my 31" up and running last summer it took until around Oct for him to get his and he's now trying to talk to his brother into making the jump into FTA as well (his brother is playing with Digital antennas and watching HD, something I havent done yet)...

I know the digital side is not as easy as the Analog side was (as you pointed out, it wasn't that long ago I couldn't even get a blip on the FTA receiver ) so the C band digital is def going to be a new experience.

But, We'll see what happens!!! Keeps life interesting
