I changed the battery on the 2 VCRS units I have. It was very easy.

It was harder getting the plastic case open than doing the battery job.
Radio shack sells the battery for about $9.
You can also get them from Mouser for about 6, and 3 for shipping.

All I did was solder some short pieces of wire to new battery terminals, then onto the pads on the system board (thus putting the 2 batteries in parallel).
I then quickly unsoldered the tabs of the old battery from the system board. Fastened the new battery with double stick tape.
Done.

Thanks Bill and everyone else for all your help. I had another question however.... on the back of the receiver it says LNB Voltage 21.2V????? Will my QPH-031 work with this? I don't want to blow it out. Or I guess I could get a splitter with 1 port DC block and slave it off my Fortec using the 12-18V that it should be. At that point voltage is supplied by Fortec and the HT5 is just along for the ride. Comments?

I would slave it off the fortec most analog receivers use polarotor to control horz and vert not different voltages like those used on the lnbf's.

Several of the receivers I've used have a setting for either polarotors or LNBFs, although I don't know about this receiver. The 21V does sound a bit high though. I'd say to check to see if there is an LNBF option, if so, you can probably use it, and if not, then slave it off the DVB receiver.

I slave mine of my Ultra.
Use 2 TV's - my small 3" LCD TV is on the video out terminals of the ultra.

My regular screen (is a computer LCD/TV combo unit) is connected to the analog receiver via Coax on Ch3, and to the Ultra via S-video cable.

So I can have the small TV on the Ultra's "setup" screen for the satellite, and I can use that to move the satellite with DisEqc 1.2 for fine adjustments, and set the H/V, while watching C band on the LCD.

When I want digital satellite, I simply select S-video.

Works slick.

hmmm... all this battery talk has me wondering .. I have a spare purple module that I haven't touched in probably 5 years. I wonder if the battery is still ticking? I wonder if it's worth my time/$$'s to bother changing it, if it isn't already dead at this point. What is the value of these things these days anyhow?

Well I got the remote from Flea Bey. It says on it "Xpert remote control UHF/Infrared". Instruction book to set up with HTV. I will try it over the weekend and see how it goes.
