Question DSR922 and BSC621

HELP!
I've looked through the threads and can't find this question. I hope someone can help me. I bought the BSC621 lnbf. My hope was that I could use it to receive ku-band and c-band with my 7.5' dish and Motorola DSR922 (4dtv). (I basically replaced my old c-band lnb, servo motor, and scalar ring) I get wonderful signals on the c-band side, but I get nothing on the ku band. I've change the setup to everything I can think of, but no luck.

Do I need a 22Khz diseqc switch? Did I waste my money on the BSC621? Please help soon. My wife is getting tired of seeing me "play" with the system.

Thanks to all for your help.

the original BSC621 is a Universal LNB on the KU side, which the 4DTV cannot decipher

There is a new version out that is standard

I was told that the BSC621 was the one that would work with 4dtv and that the BSC621-2 wouldn't work with it. Is that wrong?

(I'm starting to get confused.)

my bad. The 621 is Standard and the 621-2 is Universal

What does the label say for KU?
if it says 11.7-12.2 then its fine
if it says 10.7-12.75 then its a Uuniversal

Well I don't have either, but you can tell if it will work by looking at the Ku specs. If it give a 10750 LO freq, then it should work. If it has two LO freqs, one 10600, and one 9750, then I don't think it will work.
According to the Sadoun web page, the 621-2 is a universal, which should NOT work. I have no idea of what the specs for the 621 are, but if that's the one you have, you should be able to read the specs off the LNB itself.

Okay, I should have put this in my original post, but better late than never, I guess.

This is the data on the BSC621 C/Ku LNBF:
C band
LO: 5150
Switching: 0/22 KHz
Ku Band
I/P: 11.7 - 12.5 GHz
O/P: 950 - 1750 MHz
LO: 10.75 GHz

Thanks for the help.

Standard should be able to work, however how are you supplying the 22khz to switch the lnbf to Ku? And how are you getting it to switch polarity? I think the 4DTV should be capable of doing the polarity, but you may have to slave to a FTA receiver to switch the thing to Ku. You may have to run 2 coaxes, or slave a FTA receiver in there to supply the 22khz somehow.
I don't think the 4DTV can switch the lnbf between C and Ku by itself.

Hmmm... the switching seems to be the sticky wicket.
I guess I need to know how to switch (without buying an FTA receiver). I've tried using a splitter to run coax to the c and ku coax inputs. That doesn't do anything. Would I be able to use an external 0/22KHz switch somehow?

Hopefully someone who has done this will help, but I think that lnbf already has the switch inside, but you need some way of sending the 22khz up the coax. I don't think that the 4DTV can do this, but I may be wrong. I forget which model the 922 is, is that the full IRD version or the sidecar? I don't have a 4DTV myself, I use a DSR4200, which is similar to a sidecar, and it doesn't have any way of sending 22khz.

I would think that the easiest thing for you to do would be to run a second COAX up there. I *THINK* that if you disconnect that little jumper coax, that you could then have one coax for C and one coax for Ku, and let the 4DTV select between the 2 coaxes. I assume that you now are just feeding the C band side of the 4DTV???

If the 922 model is the sidecar, then I'd recommend that you pick up a cheap DVB receiver and slave the sidecar off the dVB receiver. I have one of my 4200s running off my Fortec Lifetime. The DVB receiver should be able to select between C and Ku. It will be a bit clunky, having to switch sats on an analog receiver, then switch bands on the DVB receiver then select channel on the 4DTV, but it should work. However if the 922 is the full blown IRD, then I think if it were me, I'd run a second coax up there.

Hopefully someone who has dealt with this has a simpler way.

Thanks. I have the full-blown IRD. I'll try the second coax and bypass the jumper. I'll let you know if it works.

Thanks again.

Here on Sadoun's website is a diagram of the ports
http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/621-2manual.pdf

(they are the same for BSC-621 or BSC-621-2)

2 cables will work OK.

THANKS! The two cable setup works perfectly. Of course, my wife is now "upset" about the cost of a second cable run. I'm just happy that it works like I want it to.

Thank you, again, to everyone!
