621 or 621-2?
There are 2 models out there now. The "-2" model is Universal Ku with Diseqc switching between C and Ku.
The non -2 model is Standard Ku, and has 22khz switching.
Which one are you looking at?

OK that's the one I have.
If you are going to do all digital (ie: Fortec Ultra type receiver) that one will be OK with a 4 foot or bigger dish, preferrably 6 foot or more for good C band reception.
If you are going to slave an analog receiver off of your digital box and want to get Ku analog, you might want to consider the other model.
It works OK. It got everything my Invacom LNB did on Ku. Of course, I have a bigger dish attached to it (120 vs 80).
Do you have any particular questions about it?

I have a -2 and am currently using it for circular C Band reception off of 40.5. It has performed better than anticipated. I was under the impression you could only get one or the other (polarity) and had to switch the plate to get the other. I may have mine lined up just right but I am getting almost everything available on both polarities without changing anything. It is also on a run of about 150'. 8.5' dish (mesh) with an inline amp mounted at the dish.

Anyone using this LNBF with a 120cm offset dish?
What is your experience with it?

yes I am - I have it on my Fortec 120cm dish, motorized with HH120.
It works OK. It gets everything the 80cm dish did on Ku, so no gain there.
But I did add an Analog C/Ku receiver - GI 650i, which I'm running off the "IF Out" of the back of the Fortec Ultra.
This gives me the ability to move the dish using USALS on the Ultra.
I can pick up 25 or 30 extra channels I would not get otherwise. There are some strong C band digital signals, the CW stations as an example come in pretty good. Canada weather channel on Anik F1 (or F2). Probably more if I put some serious thought into it and counted them up.
On the GI, there are a few analog C band stations I can pick up. They come in pretty good. A couple sparklies, but watchable. There are feeds during the day for CBS (Oprah, a few of the Judge type shows) and Fox (was watching "that 70's show" this afternoon).
All in all, I'm happy I put up the bigger dish with this C/Ku LNB. Finding the feed stations on C band is interesting, but I'd say for sure that C band like this is defintely hobbiest only. I can tell there are stations I cannot get because the dish is too small.

Thanks that was a great review. Have you experimented with different type scalar rings / feedhorns?

One of these days I'll put it all together, and do an in depth review rather than ad-hoc comments.
There is no adjustment of the feedhorn part, as that is integral to the LNB in itself.
I did read that the flat scalar ring was designed for the prime focus dishes, and using this LNBF for an offset dish required the use of a conical scalar ring. VJ9999 and I did this same project around the same time, and he mentioned he was using the conical one, so I didnt even attempt to use the flat one that came with the LNBF. I just bought one when I bought the LNBF so I installed both at the same time.
There is some C-band DVB out there, but really need a bigger dish to get the full potential of receiving it. There are listings on Lyngsat that I just dont get a peep from on the Ultra.
Integrating an analog receiver does open up things to more stuff, but it's not a clean solution when it's slaved off the Ultra. It's back & forth between the 2 units to look for stations.

I would love to try a 1.8m offset dish with the new H180 Motor and this LNBF with the proper scalar ring. I don't even think the conical one is the most ideal one to use. It is better than the flat one, though.

Here is the new H180:* Moteck HH Mount Motor for 180cm (6ft) C-Band prime focus dishes
180cm (6ft) offset dish is almost equivalent in performance and gain to a 240cm (8ft+) Solid Prime focus dish.

While all this talk and trials with smaller dishes for C Band (there are some 5 - 6' dishes in use where I live) is very interesting I just come from the old s | |
