I just located a 8 ft birdview solid dish with hh mount for $75 good deal or not.

What type of HH motor does it have? Will you need a V-Box II to move it?

it looks like a birdview motor.go pick it up on saturday and will need a box to move it. over all dish and motor seems to be in good shape.

Rainman before you plop your money down take the feedhorn mounting arm/arms off and lay the dish face down on a flat surface. Make sure it is not warped.

Make sure when you pull off the feedhorn cover you have some Wasp and Hornet spray too!

I've never really seen "Wasps" get that aggressive (hornets/yellowjackets are another matter), however they still scare the heck out of me. A year or two, I was doing some maintenence on my BUD, and was up on a wobbly ladder trying to take the feedhorn cover off, and when I did, I discovered a big wasp nest inside. Scared me so much I tried to jump off the ladder, but the ladder went sideways, and I came straight down from about 6 feet high, yeah top shelf is not a step...., and came down right across the sharp edge of a big boulder. Really banged up my leg. So even if the wasps don't get you, it can still be hazardous.
Since then, I've used the front end loader bucket of my tractor to access my feedhorn. At least it gives a sturdy platform to jump from.

I just received a sidecar,called cable co. to turn cable off,subbed to starz pak,and am checking for TCM and other ala carte chs. pricing.That and my fta I am free of rising cable costs,without adding any chs.I might add.I am free,free I tells ya,can I get an amen?

If I am not mistaken you can get TCM FTA off one of the Canadian birds on C band. Just make sure you drive to and park on any Canadian bird in C band. Ku will start a download of (I think) BellExpressVu garbage into your receiver and create havoc.

are you talking about Anik sats Steve if so i think they broadcast the star choice program.the nimq sats does BEV.

I think you may be confusing TCM with another service found on C-band on one of the Canadian birds. TCM is on one of the Canadian birds, but to the best of my knowledge it is KU, and is scrambled, on the very Star Choice DCII service that as you say will "create havoc" with US 4DTVs (it even does strange things to my 4200 DCII receivers, but it isn't permanent).
I think TCM is part of the HITs package on G4, and I think NPS was talking about getting it for 4DTVers, but I don't have a 4DTV, so I don't know if it's available or not.

If TCM is available FTA or FP or ZK anywhere, I'd sure like to know about it, although not here.... the new finds section would be a better place.

Seriously though it is gone. Was listed at lyngsat awhile back. I used to watch it when i had more time indoors. Not listed anywhere now (DVB clear). I have some old lyngsat listings at home and will try to find it. Just to verify my mind is not totally shot

got the dish home saturday but the next time I dig up the pole I will rent a back hoe.LOL that thing wore me out.
