Ok here we go. To add Ku yes you will have to run a second coax cable but it most likely is there already provided the original install used ribbon cable. You will need to change the feedhorn as I would bet yours is
C band only.
Now to the Motorola receiver you just installed and it's workings. Your old receiver was far less sensitive or should I say you did not require as precise alignment as the Motorola. I am guessing you purchased a 922 receiver which is a MPEG2 receiver and these signals are compressed and very touchy. Even on C Band The bigger the dish the harder it is to center on signal. Sounds strange but true. Larger dishes have larger side lobes.
Your dish is severly out of alignment. Your readings for quality are way to low. You should be close to 100 and 100 all the way across the board with a properly aligned dish of that size. Especially solid. I am assuming playing with skew is not helping. You are aware there is a 90 rotation in skew from H to V?
As to not landing properly I would start by manually moving the dish into signal with the receiver. Now mark the pole and mount with a piece of chalk or something. Ok run on out to G0. Now tell the receiver to go back to W1 (our marked sat). Check your marks. Are they aligned?
If not either the hall effect switch in the
actuator is going out OR your mount is loose/worn or binding somewhere. The Motorola receiver will require a reasonably tight mount. If you are going to incorporate Ku on this dish you will have to have a slop free mount and perfect or at the very least near perfect alignment.
Use the FTA receiver to help you with alignment issues as it is even more sensitive than the Motorola when it comes to reading signal.
As to any delay in response time. Considering what you have paid for any knowledge you have received here at an all volunteer support forum I would think the response time was quite good. Unless you wish to pay someone's transportation, lodging & $xxx.xx /hr to work on it for you.
The concept for aligning the dish is the same as outlined at
www.sadoun.com under support and motorized
installation.
By the way while C band is listed here and many members here do play with it this is primarily a small dish Ku community. Not trying to discourage you just pointing out a fact.
