Circular C Band LNB
Getting ready to sink a pole and plant my second dish. Want to put a circular C Band lnb on it for use on the sats over the Atlantic that are C Band circular. Any ideas where to find one?
TIA
Steve

hey steve do a google search for c band circular feed. I think it's the feed and not the lnb that gets you c band circular.

The word is that new c/ku lnbf (bsc621) comes with a dialectric plate. It should be available later this month.

Do you know mount type? Will I be able to utilize my standard scaler ring type mount or switch to a 40mm type mount? If need to switch is there a kit readily available? I have a couple phone numbers to Puerto Rica where I guess they mess with the stuff. Have not called just yet. The dish I am using is just a run of the mill 8.5' mesh C Band dish.

it look's like it has got it's own scalar ring.

what I hear will work on a off set dish so should work on your 1.2 signal might not be great on this small of a dish but would be fun to expeirment with.

I am using a c-band lnb on my 120 cm fortec dish. It is definately experimental but if you are in it as a hobby it is fun!! Atlantic sats are alot easier to get than North American sats (because of their spacing). With 120cm dish you are looking at about 4 degree beamwidth so there will be alot of "spilling over" of the signal from adjecent sats. Still you can get quite a bit, but don't expect too much

When I downloaded a few weeks ago,I accidentely downloaded some C-band.It came in pretty good.I don't exspect a lot,but it would be fun to play around with.I don't want to give up KU,but is there a way I can add this to my setup?
By the way, they never came back once I shut down, wrong LNB I guess.
Reinhold.

ADL makes circular C-band feedhorns (Mike Kohl at Global sells them), but they are very expensive. Even the manual ones that don't switch polarities are over $200, and the ones that switch are twice that. For something that expensive, it seems like unless you are doing more than just casual viewing, if you already have a linear C-band feed, it seems like the teflon slab approach makes most sense. I'm sure that a dedicated circular feed gives better results, but then you'd lose performance on linear sats, whereas if you get one of the teflon slabs, if you decide you'd rather go back to linear, you just pull it out. It will be interesting to see what the price/specification of this new lnbf are, but to me, it seems like unless it does linear too, that it is a lot of expense for minimal gain of capability. I'm not sure what's on those sats, so I don't know if it's worth it. I used to be able to see to about 30 deg over the Atlantic before a maple tree got in the way (and I don't cut maple trees because I like syrup more than TVRO), but the trees have grown up, and now I can only see 2 or 3 of the Atlantic sats, so it isn't worth it to me. But circular feeds are available if you think it's worth the expense.

Nss806
NSS806 at 40.5°W is the only C band satellite that you will find polarized as circular.
All the rest are lineal.
120cm is good enough to get it as it is very powerful even without a conical scalar ring.
I did my own experiment with this satellite and I got a couple of transponders with a 76cm dish.
May sound crazy but I did it.
Another good C band satellite to get with a small dish is PAS9 or Intelsat 9 located at 58.0°W. This one is lineal.

40.5 is not the only circular C Band sat over the Atlantic but it is the only one with any volume of channels.

my bad
You are right NSS806 is not the only C band circular.
There others over the atlantic.
The NSS806 is at least the only circular with the most transponders for hemi coverage.
