Hi I'm trying to get the CCTV4 channel(I'm located in CA, U.S) , and need to know what equipment I need. The channel seems to be encypted with Irdeto. When doing a search on the web I got the impression that I need a specific reciever to decrypt this channel. :cry: . Is there any of the fortecstar receivers that can be used with the correct CAM/ smart card to decypt this channel? And if so where do you get the correct CAM/smartcards?
Go to this website: http://www.pstv-us.net/ and check out the local dealers near you. Don't buy other irdeto decoders,even with smartcard, it won't work. You have to get the CCTV official decoder.
You need both smartcard number and the decoder serial number for the authorization. And CCTV-4 won't authorize other equipment sold by others. THEY ARE PLAYING A HARD BALL HERE. THEY ARE USING THE SAME TACTICS USED IN CHINA, IT'S A STATE-OWNED bussiness, and they want to do it the Chinese way.
Their office is here in LA, but their authorized dealers are all over the US. and Canada. The web site has a list of all authorized dealers. My impression is that they want to deal with Chinese alone, no american dealers. Well, at least, if you really want to become one of their dealers, you can give them a call, they do speak english.
Can you believe it ...CCTV 4 is back up and running again.
I think its to the best interest of the Chinese Government to keep their citizens that are out of the country well informed of their Orwellian culture. I congradulate them and salute them; now that it keeps my in-laws happy.
