FEC rates are moving into a realm that will require a larger reflector for the home user unless you are buying DN or DirecTV. 4DTV dieing? Really? Same technology as DVB MPEG2. In fact the 4DTV receiver is MPEG only difference is DCII. Maybe you have missed it but 4DTV just exploded with programming. They are filling up those empty transponders on the Ku birds.
C band is still the preferred method of transmission. There is plenty of room up there with plenty of unused space at this time. After all the only thing on K5 is one lonely
PBS channel and a few DVB channels/feeds. How about XO? 4 or 5 transponders in use at this time. Maybe 6.
The higher FEC rates will become a average thing as we move more and more into
HD. If your dish is not tuned properly you are simply not going to have TV on your big dish. No more side lobing
