DTV dish and LNB to get Telstar 5?

Hi all,
Got my motor and DTV dish & dual LNB setup with TwinHan 1020A finally. I double checked plumb and got 92 signal on DTV sat. I goto Telstar 5 using USALS and then I'm not quite sure if what I'm doing is right. In VisionDTV I should set both LNB Freq's to 11250 or 5150? I think 5150 is C band and 10750 is Ku band but I think the DTV LNB should be at 11250? I scanned with all three variables and only got two channels (CHANNEL 1 and CHANNEL 2). What am I doing wrong?

I goto Echostar 3 and was able to get lots of channels on that bird with 11250 in the LOF entries with DreamDVB but no Chinese channels and all but one channel is scrambled. The one unscrambled channel tells me I'm on Dish's bird. I know the hardware setup on my roof is good.

I haven't tried the other three sats with Chinese channels yet. I'm back to work now and can't get to it for a few more days so I figure I ask here first.

I have a larger dish (I think in the 30 inch range with DTA written on it) and unknown LNB in my garage given to me from my dad. Should I use this and give up on the hopeless DTV setup for DirecTV viewing only? I'd hate to do this all over again but I will if I have to.

Sadoun, can you recommend me a better LNB from your store for my other dish?

Thanks all.

Re: DTV dish and LNB to get Telstar 5?

DTV dish/lnbf can't not get linear signal such as T5. In my opinion, mounting a DTV dish on a motor is not worth. 99% of DishNetwork channels are encrypted. Get a larger dish, you will get more FTA channels on linear birds.
Also, getting signal on a DishNetwork sats does not mean your mount is propertly installed since there are many DishNet sats up on the sky. There is an instruction of how to install h-h mount at Sadoun site. If you did not aim your dish at true south first, pretty chance the dish is not correctly installed.

Thanks Mod,

Ok, the specs for the larger dish is,

35 inch/90 cm, it says Atlanta DTH, Inc. on the dish. I don't think it's made of aluminum

LNB says "1700 KU single output digital Ku-LNBF"
input frequency: 11.7-12.2 GHz
output frequency: 950-1450 MHz
Atlanta DTH, Inc.
it looks a little crusty

my motor is a Microyal H2H, simular to SM3D12, rated for 120 cm dish, I have your installation instruction on my hard drive.

What values should be typed into the LNB entris in VisionDTV and DreamDVB's LOF entries? The LNB is really old like almost 10 years old. Should I replace it with a newer/better one?

Thanks
