For those who would like to know, I was checking some things out on my Fortec Star and found CCTV9 Free on AMC4 (it does say encrypted by irdeto, but you can see plain as day.) Here are the details.

Thanks Aaron. Good to know. CCTV9 has good programs about China in English. For the business person interested in doing business in China, this is a good channel to watch to learn about the culture and country development.

I am picking up CCTV9 on what I believe to be Telstar5 12121 V.

When I look on lyngsat.com I do not even see this frequency. I used to be able to pick up 80 or 90 different channels, but now this is the only one I pick up.

Is this actualy on Telstar 5 or am I somehow pointed at another Sat?

You have locked onto AMC 4 -- as Aaron says above CCTV 9 is on TP 21 -- 12,120 GHz, vertical, SR=30,000.

Since Telstar 5 and AMC 4 or so close (97 degrees vs. 101 degrees) it is possible to pick up AMC 4 by mistake - I've done it when aligning a dish to T5.

Alan: if you have lost your channels from T5 then you must realign your dish as I think it has "drifted" over to AMC 4.

And Aaron: you will find that CCTV 9 is not always free - I notice that it goes encrypted from time to time during the day, although the encryption periods seem to be random for some strange reason.

kat

BTW: you can also get both CCTV 9 and CCTV 4 on Galaxy 3C (95 degrees) at 11,780 GHz, horizontal, SR=20,760, FEC=3/4.

You were right. I was using a streangth meter to align and went a little to far to the right.

Thanks
