Anybody got Satmex?

It has Guangdong TV on it for free right now. I tried to aim my dish at it, but failed. Looks like harder to get it than other satellites(AMC4,GC3 and T5).

Re: Anybody got Satmex?

I'm watching it now. satmex5 is similar to amc4 or any other satellites.. as long you have nothing blocking your view your pretty much fine.

I have to say Signal from SatMex 5 is a little stronger than that from AMC4.

I am located in Ohio. I have some trouble to get good signal from G10R at 123W. I guess this is because of the distance. This satellite is above west coast/pacific ocean. Where are you located? If you are in east coast you might have the same issue since satmex at 116.8W is also above CA.
Better alignment may help a little.

If your dish is set up correctly, you should get G10R without any problem. G10R footprint:

I was able to get signal from G10R. But the quality is not good. I got 45% for TP 12114V-SR4444, and able to view channel KPBI and KFDF. But only get 0%-25% for TP 11799V-SR26660 and not able to view any channel there. It looks to me different TP has different strength and footprint may not tell all.

I am using VisionPlus 1020A board on a PC. It was working beofore Chinese TV programs moving from AMC4 to Dish Network. I have aimed the dish at SatMex5 now. Using a DVB receiver, I can receive programs at tp19 (Frquency 12080 Samp. rate 23635). Now using the VP 1020A board and scanning the tp19, no any program was found. The LNB is set up on frequency 10750.) Any idea? Thanks in advance.

Re: Anybody got Satmex?

Did you get any other tps? If you got other TPs, maybe it is a probglem with settings, like signal polarity. If none of the TPs can be found, maybe your dish is not aimed to the bird?

Well, here is Chinese TV forum. So we are talking about CHinese programs here.

If you want to know whether there are spanish channels on specific sat, you can check www.lyngsat.com .

Thanks for your help. I can receive the TP19 on SatMax 5 when I connected the LNB cable to the F connector on the 2nd position on the VisionPlus 1020A card. (I think it was not right to connected on the 1st position.) I did not get any other TPs. I am planning to try aiming to Galaxy 13/Horizons 1 (127 W). It was said there may be some Chinese programs, but do not know how hong thet will be there.

No one will know how long. But better than nothing. Since G13/H1 is at 127W, it would be a little hard to aim it in east coast.

As long as you have clear view, 20 deg elevation is not a problem. I live in CA and get Pas9 at 10 degs elevation without any problem, motorized 90cm dish, it's on the roof though....:-)
At 10deg elevation, the dish looks kind of cool, pointing at the ground but get signal from a sat at 10 degs elevation...:-)

Satmex 5 has both C and Ku band signals, if your program are a C-band signal, you have to use C-band.

But if it was Ku_band, you do not have to use C-band dish.
