I have an old 920 laying around. If the battery goes bad on the DCII board is the RX useless or can I use it to Move a dish with it? I dont care if i can authorize it just want to use it for a slave Thanks

if the battery goes flat it looses the DCII ID thats on the box's systemboard.
Yes that will prevent it from being used to authorize pay satellite type programming.

No it will not hinder it from moving a dish & actuator.

Ok thats good to know. One other question. Will it still download info from G1 like the current sats? Because I will probably still use it to find the sats and position the dish. Thanks

It's my understanding that if the main board battery goes south that the unit will not receive updates to sat locations. Not sure if the encoder will work for sat positions either. Replace the battery if it's still good! There are several sites online (probably here also) with info to do this and you'll be able to use that 920 for years to come. I've got one of those myself that was bought back in the mid 1990s and I replaced that battery three years ago and never looked back. Takes about an hour and $5 in parts.

I have a simple question. Which satellite is G1?

I have a couple of DSR922s... and am thinking about putting them into use.

    Thanks

G1 is Galaxy 15 and is at 133 west. Channel 5 has the Arts on it and it's still analog and in the clear so it makes it somewhat easy to find. G1-3 will give you a DC lock and I use that one for updates and rehits from NPS. I also have had success with updates from G1-5, 100, 102, 103, etc.
