black box on subscribed channels

Hi All I have a 4dtv 922 with a 6 foot dish and a news subscription (fox cnn HLN )with bigdish.com.Any way when I go to fox I can see and hear it fine but after a few seconds a black square pops up (I can hear it fine)if I hit volume or any buttons the screen is fine sometimes it stops popping up after awhile.Today I'm watching bloomberg on GB 601 and it keeps popping up does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks for your time.

How big is the black box? What does it say if anything? What are your signal and quality readings? Where are you located? A 6' dish is awful small for C Band.

I don't have any analog subscription, but I do have one on DCII and X4 (Ku band currrently)

I have 6 foot prime focus dish, and receive Bloomberg with no issues whatsoever.

With that said, I don't know what would cause a box to appear on your screen. Maybe a box reset is in order... big job though, have to reprogram all your sat locations back in.

The black square is equal on the whole screen bottom edge above the second ticker line.It does not say anything solid block will go away instantly if I change the volume and pop back up a few seconds later.sig 58 qual 50.I think you may be on to something fox is fine it has a sig 56 and qual 72 maybe I need to tweek my dish outside. Also the weather has been really bad alot of snow and ice but its a mesh dish so I dont see anything to clean off.

can you take a JPG of the screen, put it on a shared picture service and post a link to it on here?

Sounds like alignment issue. 50 for quality is getting down there for a 4DTV receiver. The low signal strength readings are another giveaway. Granted I am using a 8.5' dish but my signal strength is 100 no matter what sat I am pointed at. Quality will be associated with signal strength so I expect to see lower readings there also but if you are getting a 72 on a channel you should be able to get somewhere close to that for FOX

Hello

I replaced the battery in the vc2 box and the 4dtv box earlier last year myself and it has been working. I need to get out there and try adjusting it better first. It is still very confusing though I can sit there and hit the volume 1 notch up and down continuously and the box stays away( I can see it and hear it fine) until I quit hitting the volume.I would think if it was a bad signal I would see a very snowy pic ,or totally lose the pic and volume and everything and then when the signal went up the pic would go back again. .....

Ok guys so I just went to take a pic I stopped my kids video.Went to bloomberg and the box popped up took a pic Shut off the sat and the box stayed on the screen with the kids movie running it went away as soon as I hit the volume.(I was able to repeat this.)My apex tv is the problem.Sorry for wasting your guys time. And thank you very much for all your input.
So the final fix the closed captionining on the tv was in the text one mode and should be in the off mode. It works great now .Again thanks for your help and sorry again for wasting your time.

LOL. Glad to hear you got it resolved and was so easy to fix. I remember days with no volume only to find a very young child had altered settings in my receiver and I never thought about what he had done. I hunted and hunted and was about to send the receiver in for repair when I finally found what he had done. A simple setting in the surround sound receiver.
