Should be the same as slaving any receiver to a big dish system or are you wanting to only have the Dreambox tied to the big dish? I do not find anything that says a Dreambox is DiSEqC 1.2 compliant which means it does not send the signals required to move a small dish motor. I am not sure just how the VBox units operate but you may be able to use it in the middle to move the dish without taking commands from the receiver.

the V Box can be used as a independent dish mover Steve.
I use mine at the dish to make adjustments it works great.

A dreambox will do diseqc 1.2 fine. I have two of them (dm500s) that work fine running a bud through a vbox positioner.

It's a brand of satellite receiver (like Fortec or Pansat) that runs a linux operating system that is customizable (in a good way, not like the "patch-eye gang" way) to allow things like PVR functionality, web surfing, custom epg loading, games, etc.

How to set up DM500 S + moving C/KU-band dish

I bought recently a Dreambox 500 S. I have also a Manhattan 550, wich can move my 7.5 ft C/KU-band dish. With the Manhattan I receive all the reacheable sats and horizontal en vertical signals.

Now I try to set up the Dreambox with the same dish, but I can't figure out how to do it. The manual gives me no comprehensive directions how to set up this configuration. In the dish is a C-band LNB and a KU-band LNB mounted with a diseqC-switch 2 in 1 out. The Manhattan works perfectly with this configuration, so I don't need to doubt the hardware involved.

Every time I want to set up the Dreambox for "many satellites via DiseqC Rotor" it deletes my previous settings and I have to start from scratch again. I tried many different settings, but none worked for 100%. I don't know why there are so many settings. In the Manhattan I only set that I have a universal and a C-band LNB and that C-bandLNB=diseqc 1 and universal=diseqc 2.

I searched also the internet many times, but didn't find solutions for my configuration.

And now I start feeling desperate about getting it fixed in the end.

If you can help me with the required settings so I can use this dish and the two lnb's...? This would be more than nice!

It's been awhile since I have tinkered with my DM500s boxes, but you are not alone in feeling that their configuration panels are deplorable. Actually, the stock (and every other one I've tried) image doesn't even allow you to setup highly complex configurations. I had to go in and edit the files and ship em over to the box via ftp to get it to work with multiple satellites/switches/motors.

There are some 3rd party sites (no eye-patch hackers, just good guys modifying the box to work!) that will be of help to you. You might search for the PLI image site. They have been most helpful in getting my box configured.
