Is there a way to view 4DTV X4 signals (both H and V) on FTA LNB?

--I was wondering if there was a way I can view both H and V channels on an FTA KU LNB (10750Mhz)? I noticed that I only get one polarity when viewing X4 subscription channels on my Motorola DSR-922. I tried switching to c/ku lnbfs in the menu, but that did not work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have a 922, and I've never tried using the lnbf settings on any of my big dish IRDs, however I would have thought that what you tried, ie switching to the lnbf setting in the menu, should have worked. You might try putting a voltmeter on the ku coax to see if it is switching voltage properly.
Do you have a C/Ku system, or a ku only system? If C/Ku, is the C-band also an lnbf or is it regular polarotor? Ie I wasn't sure if the menu allowed polarotor for C and lnbf for Ku, although that might not be an issue here.
I guess if all else fails, you *could* slave the 922 to an FTA receiver, but that would be a clunky solution.

It worked!...kind of.

--Well, I started messing around with the receiver again today, and I managed to get both polarities. I went into the settings of the receiver and pressed the "Rotate LNB 90°". Before, all I was able to get was one polarity, now I am able to get both. Not sure why rotating it 90° got in BOTH polarities, but it worked. However, the bad news... Because I switched to "C Band and KU Band LNBFs", my regular LNB with servo motor doesn't respond. Oh well, whenever I want to watch X4, I just press a few buttons and all the channels will come in. Just in case you are wondering why I am going to all this trouble, right now my big dish (with C/KU LNBs) is not fully peaked, so I just use my 36" dish with KU LNBF to watch my subs on X4. So, until I get a sat. tech. to come out here, I will just stick with that.

Peaking your big dish is same in concept to your small one. So in other words if you set up the 36" dish you should be able to handle the big one without having someone come out.
