Chaparal 2+wideband international feed

1st would like to say Merry Christmass to all here, an hope all here an youre families have a good new year. Now i am in the process of lineing up parts for next year going to set up another dish an the wife aint to happy cause this is my 4th 10footer here. an its a Channel master with a horz to horz mount an was shopping for a feed an see that their are 2 different chaparal feeds that do circular c-band with part #11-5000 & #11-7128 now i know the difference of both is the freq range of them, but would like to know if anyone here is using 1 of them an how you like it, an how good it works on circular & leinar c-band, an ku-leinar? now i have worked with the die-electric plates that snap in the feed troat an have never been a big fan of them an are hard to get right an when you get it, they work fair, also have worked with another circular c-only feed but it was only circular only an it worked great, but real poor on leinar an seen why cause that one had like a spring in the feed throat, an it was very costley also. now i know that most people use the 621 here an can see why price is right an can do alot with em. but if any one using 1 of these would like youre feed back please. Thank You an happy holidays Captain

spyder is on a distinguished road
The 11-5000-62 is the standard Corotor II plus feedhorn for linear c and ku reception, and the 11-7128-62 is the wideband version with dielectric insert for linear and circular c band reception and standard linear ku. The frequency range they receive is dependant upon the lnb installed and not the feedhorn itself.

I've used the 11-7128 feeds for some time now and totally love them. Your rig sounds like what I have set up for my 10ft DVB dish. Channel Master dish with a Proform H-H mount. If you will be able to see many of the atlantic c band satellites I would definately go with the wideband circular version. The performance is top notch on both circular and linear C. I've compared the signal level difference between the wideband version and the standard version and can see no 'noticable' difference in signal level. I'm sure there is some slight attenuation due to the dielectric slab, but in real world (hobyist) use it's never been an issue for me.

One BIG thing to be sure of when installing one the wideband version is to be SURE that you have the dielectric slab lined up at PERFECT horizontal level at the dish's peak due south.

Also I recommend spending a little extra on quality lnb's. Personally I like Norsat. For the serious hobbyist I usually recommend the 8115 C and the 4106 KU. These have a stability rating of +/- 100khz. LNB at Norsat International

Thanks alot Spyder, Good info will order the 7128 after the first of the year, an yes have a pair of norsat lnb here 8515 c-band (3.4 to 4.2 ghz) an also a 4508a ku-band, but may try a galant.5 100khz that i got off a comercal dish that they stop using for internet, that i had to remove. an the horz mount that i got for this one is a old patroit with a 36 inch ring, that i am going to put the 10ft Channel master on an this dish is a mess T-lock, with the larger quad legs to hold the feed ass. an yes spider have a real good look to the east an looks like on my suunto that i can get alantic bird-3 with no problem an that has a elevation for me of 3 degress here, an ia10-02 may not get just starting to get into trees, but wont know till i get it up an see how much signal an if i get a lock or not. So thanks agin Spyder, An Happy Holidays to you an youre family> Captain
