Today's project is to add the C band satellites and see what the BUD can get.
Now for the questions:
If the BUD can see AMC6, will this rig allow me to see NASA? Right now I am not confident that I have AMC6 locked in.
Are there any FTA receivers that have analog support? I really enjoy Classic Arts Showcase - and when my 4DTV subscription is up I am planning on replacing the feedhorn with a BSC621 and getting another FTA receiver and a positioner - are there any options that will allow me to keep getting analog signals?
Thanks

Re receiving NASA, yes. There are about 4 FTA NASA signals up right now. The main one is the MUX at 4040V with a 26666 SR. This generally has 4 SD channels on it, one of which is usually encrypted. During the shuttle launches, they usually eliminate one or two of the SD signals, and replace it with a
HD channel.
The other three NASA signals seem to have replaced what used to be a contractor's channel that used to be on channel 5 analog, but now they have 3 DVB channels there instead. Two of these seem to be in 4.2.2, but one of them is 4.2.0. It is at 3786 V / 4340 . The HD and 4.2.2 signals you won't be able to see with the Mercury.
Re the Classic Arts Showcase, the NYN mux on AMC5 has one channel (ch 2 or 3 I think) which is FTA, and it has 3 times during the day where it has an hour or two of the Classic Arts Showcase. Much better quality than what's on analog on G1. At least for me. There used to be a full time FTA Classic Arts channel on G26 Ku, but it only comes on occasionally for some reason.
I'm not sure why you would want to replace your feedhorn/analog receiver. I'm not aware of any recent model FTA receiver that does analog. It's just as easy to slave FTA off analog as you're doing now, and the quality of the feed/lnbs is probably better than the lnbf you're talking about. If you were just going to do FTA, then perhaps it might make sense to switch, but if you want analog and free DCII and FTA, I'd keep what you have. To get more channels, I'd recommend picking up a cheap PCI computer receiver, if you have a fast computer. THis will allow you to tune in 4.2.2 and HD channels. THen if you find HD channels you'd like to watch you might eventually upgrade to an HD capable receiver at a later time.
