HH motor death

RIP my old HH motor on the BUD. A gear in the cluster is stripped.

So- if I remove all the gears from the box, and use only the polar axis, y'all think a linear actuator would work? I could go almost the whole arc from my location with the old motor, but I believe now I would be limited to my south sat and easterly sats (pushing uphill)?

I guess I will need to spec something for a 10 ft mesh dish- and W. PA winters...

What do you guys recommend from Sadoun's stock?

Larry

It's a Perfect 10 brand. A gear in the reduction cluster has stripped, and the end shaft that runs in the outer plate of the cluster seems to have sheared.

The DC motor, and all else is good.

Hi larry you may want to check an see if you have a machine shop around you that can either cut a new gear or make one work for you, it is amazing what a good machinest can do. my grandad was a tool & die man for over 50 years an he had his men make me alot of parts when i raced boats. i am luckey where i am at have 2 big shops here i use 1 of em years ago to turn out a larger hole in birdview scalar ring befor they made them. an last may want to look in a Grainger catalog to see if they have a gear that you need they have a big section on gears. an i dont think that perfect-10 made the horz mounts if i rember i think they were made by a company called Ajax. i got a horz mount here from a 10ft perfect-10 that the mounts are rusted away that holded the dish an its a 36 inch ring, but plan to use it, have a 6 panel 12ft cosmo that i going to set it up on one day. so larry befor i would let it RIP would try to fix it, cause some of those old horz mounts are built stong. good luck Captain
