LNBF compatibility?

i put my big dish thing on the back burner for the summer because it is just too stinking hot in Florida! but now the fall is approaching and i am looking forward to something to get into. my question is, I WANT TO JUST REPLACE MY LNBF. HOW CAN I TELL IF A NEW ONE WILL FIT? ARE THEY UNIVERSAL? and what about the co- rotor thing? what would be the benefit of that? THIS FORUM IS GREAT AND THE HEAVY HITTERS ON HERE RULE! thanks for the help!

The advantage to the corotor is setting skew per polarity per sat which you can not do with a lnbf. Setting cost aside I would go with a corotorII with C and Ku lnb's. Second choice would be the standard Ku BSC unit that does both c and Ku. The universal offering does not play well with a 4DTV receiver. As to all the same. In concept yes. As long as you are working with items designed for a big dish they mount with a scalar ring. These rings have multiple mounting holes to fit any configuration I have seen. The corotor or lnbf then mounts inside the scalar ring and is held with set screws. Hope that helps but if not clear or only created more questions feel free to ask away.

Hi Keebs, I am new here at this site but not new to satellite, i would go with the co-rotor, the reason why is u can always up grade youre lnbs and from my own experince i have found that some lnbs work better than others, with the dsr line of receivers. one that i like for c-band is the Californi Amplifer (if you can find them any more). and i know where you are coming from about the heat, i work out in it and live in central fl. and it will draine you at the end of the day, so good luck hope this bit of info helps.

Will an FTA receiver control a co-rotor?

If you move away from analog/4dtv type receiver to an all FTA solution a co-rotor might be an issue. Just something to consider.

The pansats have hookups on the back for controlling skew.I slave mine to an analog receiver for skew settings,so I don't know how well the pansats work for that.

yes this does help. i am more into the free side of it. will the co rotor allow more free content? i plan to purchase a Vbox dish mover box to work in conjunction with my Fortec Lifetime Classic. will the Vbox control the skew? but if not i think i will be satisfied with lnbf dual thing. thanks- ANYONE HEARD FROM BIBBLER?

If you are planning on using a VBox for control of the actuator I am assuming you have no intentions of using anything other than a DVB MPEG2 receiver. If that is the case a BSC type lnbf would be the best choice. As to a corotor and free. the corotor has nothing to do with receiving free or encrypted content that is in the receiver. Lnb or lnbf they both only "read" what is coming in. The job of making either music or picture out of what they "read" is the receiver.
