I'm a bit confused. Is W9 your "old receiver talk" or "4dtv talk"?
Are you talking about AMC9, which many people call W9? If so, AMC9 used to be at 85, but it's now at 83. At 85 now is AMC2. I think the test pattern mentioned by 1captain is on AMC2. There's also a DVB version last time I looked.

On AMC9, there are a bunch of transponders on KU, although I didn't see anything analog. The best for tuning being the Hughesnet (I assume) transponders, such as the 12180/30000.
On C-band, I didn't see anything analog, but there were a LOT of strong digital signals, however I couldn't lock any of them with my Ultra (which isn't unusual for the ULTRA). These transponders looked to have pretty high SR values, up close to 30,000. It's possible that they are DVB-s2 or 8psk of some kind that can't be locked by the ultra, or they might be DSS or they might be DCII, neither of which did I try. So there is definately something there, but off hand I'm not sure what the signals are.

Anyway, which sat are you looking for??

I'm using this chart.
Guess it's "4dtv talk".
I see "occasional" and "free" draws me to it to have a look.
I wonder why they don't show the one at 82 on this chart.

Anyway, that's why I gave the sat value too. They seem to change designations by the hour it seems.

I did try for Channel 25, I can just about see something with "echostar" on it, only if I change the settings to "rotate LNBF 90 degrees" (as it needs to be set that way for C band use) to Normal.
I have more peaking to do.

It is easier to find things wrong with that chart than things right.
I'd forget about that and use Lyngsat. Lyngsat has it's problems, but it's MUCH better than that chart.
Re things changing "by the hour", I know that they've been moving sats around a bit, and I'm not sure exactly when AMC9 went to 83, but I think it was about 3 years ago... not exactly that recent.
That page also designates DVB signals as being DCII among it's many many errors.

EDIT: Looks like AMC9 moved from 85 to 83 around Feb 2005 . Of course that doesn't mean anything about what the 4DTV might call that slot, but I still see 4DTV charts listing W9 as being AMC9.

Would be interesting to learn what all the signals on the C-band side of AMC9 are. I checked one, ie one at 4180, and it has an SR of 30000, exactly, yet I can't lock it, so it must be 8PSK or some data format.
