second and third try with the HH180

Ok, I tried fixing the HH180 motor with epoxy and reinforcing. It broke. Then I got a replacement HH180 motor. An ice storm hit and the next day I found the dish on the ground. Attached are photos of how that motor broke. I think the motor would support a 31" dish, but I don't know if so in an ice storm. It broke in February 2009.

I can't post all the photos. I guess I am exceeding my limit.

Anyway, I found a 2M KTI mesh dish in a yard behind my neighbor's bake shop and asked the owner if they wanted me to haul it away. It took me about 6 months to get it set up. I attached my old B621c-2 LNB and bought a new actuator from sadoun and now it is running great. I think it is getting more signal strength than the H180 did even though it is mesh with a lot of dents. I am very happy that I have C-Band again and am amazed with the image quality. I will post images later... and maybe in a separate thread.

    my photos....

Ok, here are the photos ... on MyPhoto.com. I just uploaded them, and hope they are visible to you all... don't know if it will work...

The smallest dish sits right in the middle of the big dish's path to 135, but I still get about a 35 quality with a good picture and sound.

Yeah... the HH180, like PMB said, is not designed right and is junk... I am happy I have the KTI 200cm mesh dish. It is working great. I can't get Ku band yet, but the C-band comes in great.

Right now, I have one receiver, a Dynamic (like a Mercury II) and I connect both the 90cm and 200cm dishes to it with a diseqc switch. I move the small dish with the receiver, and the large dish with a separate V-box. I have outlined the V-Box positions of the different satellites. Currently I am not using the 80cm dish but may hook that up to a bedroom receiver. I was happy to find the KTI mesh dish in someone's trash.

do you like my leaning shed?
