Geosynchronous Orbit is WAY up there, over the equator. Think of your aiming as a triangle, or set of triangles, with one of the legs over 20000 miles. Eight feet aren't going to matter much on the settings, especially given the precision and accuracy of the markings on most dishes, when it comes to aiming at the satellites. Eight feet might make all the difference in the world when it comes to shooting over a roofline or tree.
