I use a water pipe that I brought from the hardware store.
Signal meters can help if you have never done this before. Since you already have a fixed dish aimed at a specify satellite, you can use that information to help you re-aim with a motor.
On the topic of weird mounts, a friend of mine has his
satellite dish (offset) lying on the ground, but he still gets an 80% signal from G3C. I read from other sites that this is possible but not recommened since rain water collects at the bottom.
